How to install Magento 2 on Xampp localhost step by step guide By Admin | Magento 2, 

Magento is one of most popular ecommerce solutions now a days and it’s becoming a first choice for all type of business be it a startup company or an enterprise level store.

Magento 2 the latest release of magento and so it is most preferred these days. Since Magento 2 is a new technology, developers often find it difficult to install it on Xampp. We recently received so many queries on the same issue so we decided to share step by step process to install Magento 2 on Xampp localhost.
We assume that you have already installed Xampp on your local system.

Step 1: At first you need to download Magento 2. So go to download page of Magento and download the latest version i.e. Magento 2.3. You can select “Full Release with Sample Data”.

Step 2: It will ask you to create an account for download. So if you have already created a account then enter the credentials and login. Else you can create an account and login then.

Step 3: Now next step is to extract Magento 2 and copy in htdocs folder. Htdocs will be available on the location where you have installed Xampp.

Step 4: Now you can open local host in browser along with folder name. Url will be localhost/*magentofoldername*. And once you will open this then an installation page will appear. So the first page will appear where you need to agree setup and terms condition. So click on “Agree and Setup Magento” button to start.

Step 5: The next step will be “Readiness Check”. In this step installer will check Php versions, permissions and compatibility. So click on “Start Readiness Check”.

Step 6: So once you click on “Start Readiness Check” button then it will start checking like this.

Step 7: White checking your local environment some issues may appear like this below screenshot.

So don’t need to worry about this, we will explain how to fix this.

For issue mentioned in above screenshot, just open Php.ini file and remove “;” from below lines:

  1. ;extension=php_xsl.dll.
  2. ;extension=php_intl.dll
  3. ;extension=php_soap.dll

After doing this, you need to STOP Apache and MySql and need to START again.

Step 8: Once you will start the Apache and MySql again then you need to open localhost/”magentofolder” again. And need to do the Step 4, 5 and 6 above again. And now you will see that all the errors are resolved. Now click on “Next” button on right side.

Step 9: After clicking next then next page will appear where you need to add database details. So go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ and click on “Databases”. Here you can create a database with name “magento”. You can keep the database name as per your need.

Step 10: When database is created then enter database name in “Add a Database” step below. So you just need to enter “Database name” field. And you can leave other fields as it is. After entering the database name you can click on “Next” button on right side.

Step 11: The next step will be web configuration so here you can choose your web address and admin login url. And once done click on “Next” button right side.

Step 12: The next step will be “Customize your store”. Here you can set default time zone, currency and language for your store. So you can select options as per your requirement and click “Next”.

Step 13: Next step will be “Create Admin Account”. Here you can setup admin account. So you can choose a user name, email and password for your admin account. Once done please click “Next”.

Step 14: The next step will be “Install”. So here you just need to click on “Install now” button and installation will start automatically.

And installation may take 2-3 mins.

That’s it.

You have finished installing Magento 2 on your Xampp localhost. Now you can access your Magento 2 frontend/backend and start exploring Magento 2 features. I hope you find this post helpful.
